Hi! Welcome to Makeup Mondays!
So this week I wanted to let you in on a little secret about me…maybe those that know me already know this, but I'm not sure! I have a bit of a problem you see, I hoard lip balms!!!! I buy them, I lose them somewhere in the house or car, I buy more. I see one I haven’t tried, I buy it. It can cost me anywhere from $1-$30 and I just don’t care! I have to try it! I’m constantly looking for the next greatest thing in the lip balm category.
Hydrated, supple lips are just as important in your skincare regime. (Next week I will show you what I use on my face too, when I’m not so blah and under the weather). Keeping your lips exfoliated and maintained leads to beautiful lipstick application and kissable lips (you know that’s important!)
I had to narrow down this pile to my top 5 lip balms. So, here they are:
•By Terry Baume de Rose is my queen of all lip balms! The top dog! The bomb.com! My happy lippy! Agh! So good! This one, truly has a cult following amongst Hollywood Celebs as well as just us normal peeps! It has nourishing, smoothing and plumping capabilities. It has a soft velvety finish to it and a soft rose scent. Gives the lips a subtle, non sticky shine. It is known as the “Rolls-Royce of lip balms for crying out loud and that’s because it’s like $60 for the normal size and I believe $24 for the little one I buy. I stick to the little one...
•LipJao by Jao Brand from Anthropology is my current to die for lip balm! For $8 my lips feel hydrated for a long time and it’s 100% natural! What caught my attention was the writing on the tube... “specially formulated for lip balm snobs”. That’s me! I’ll take it! I absolutely fell in love with this one. It’s paraben and petrochemical free and contains a natural UVA/UVB protection called Meadowfoam Seadoil. It helps repair dry, cracked and irritated lips and contains Vitamins A, E and C by using natural ingredients like Rosehip Oil, Jojoba and Pumpkin Seed Butter. It is lightly flavored with essential oils of grapefruit, anise, tea tree and Palmarosa. I will say, it does leave a bit of a white tint to the lip which some might not like but I for some reason love it and people always ask what lipstick I have on. Obsessed!!!!!
•Lip Balm SPF 15 by Bobbi Brown is a classic. Many times you’ll find that it’s sold out because it’s always been a crowd favorite. This one I love because it enchances the natural color to my lips. It contains Avocado, Olive and Wheatgerm Oils which help create a protective layer on your lips. Also has Aloe Vera to help soothe. It’s hydrating yet not intensely thick. Having the SPF is also a huge plus especially if you’re constantly outdoors. Another great option.
•EOS Sweet Mint for some reason this just makes me happy. I don't think they work the best when compared to the ones above but they do feel great. I just feel like I have to reapply more with this brand but regardless, something about the texture and packaging of these lip balms just works for me and has me buying them over and over again! The sweet mint flavor I also really enjoy because it tastes yummy and tingles which in my crazy head makes me think... its working! I know, I'm silly. These are USDA-certified organic (95% organic ingredients) 100% natural. It's also paraben and petrolatum free. So those are all great features! It has Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter which is what hydrates the lips without making them feel greasy. Like I said, something about them makes me want more.
•Blistex Medicated Lip Balm SPF 15 is your good ol' faithful. The one we grab for last minute while waiting in the checkout line at Target. Well, your choices are usually EOS (above) and Blistex when waiting in those lines. None the less, I still find comfort when I reach into my purse for a lip balm and this little green one comes out. It helps with dryness and chapping. It helps to sooth my lips with the cool menthol sensation. Its also great because it has an SPF 15.
That's a few of them friends! I know I have a bunch more too, like my Fresh Lip Treatments and some other random ones that I love. I just couldn't find them, no matter where I looked! Let me know what some of your favorite lip balms are in the comments below!
Like I always say, what works for me...may not work for you. Give it a try and decide for yourself!
