It all starts with great skin...

Welcome back to another Makeup Monday! This week, I want to start by asking you a question! What is the point of investing in all this great makeup if you’re not going to take care of your skin? I can’t stress this enough! Get on a skincare routine that’s easy enough for you to stick to while taking care of all your concerns. For example, I have dry skin (all year round) and I’m most definitely concerned about my fine lines and wrinkles specifically my crows feet! I try to use products that target those concerns. So, I stand there in front of the mirror every morning and every night and start layering...from cleansing to scrubbing to toner, serum and moisturizer to an oil and eye cream. My husband and friends think I’m nuts. But hey, nuts or skin looks and feels great! Oh, and pleaseeeee don’t give me the excuse that you don’t have time for all of this. It literally takes just a few minutes. Make the’s for yourself! Oh an yes those are cat ears on my head and yes they belong to my daughters! LoL, what? I needed something to hold my hair back...

On that note, here is my skincare regime (for the moment). It’s good to switch things up every few months. The skin/body, just like everything else, becomes immune and needs a good shock and change.

Let’s start with the cleansing process:
Micellar Cleansing Water (All-in-1 Waterproof) by Garnier SkinActive is what I currently use to remove my makeup. This all-in-1 cleansing water is for face, lips and eyes. This cleansing water is for all skin types and cleanses the face gently while still leaving it soft. I use two large cotton rounds, soaked in cleansing water. I lay them on my eyes and let that sit for a few seconds so it breaks things down and there is no need for excess rubbing on such a fragile area. This removes all my makeup including my waterproof mascara.
Microdermabrassion Paste by Rodan+Fields I think I’ve already established is by far my favorite scrub! I use this 1-2 times a week in this order. Personally, I love to use this on dry skin, so I pat down what’s left of the cleansing water and take a quarter size and start massaging it into my dry skin. I enjoy the rough feel of this so I just go to town with it. For others who perfer a less abbrasive approach, apply this on a wet/damp skin. Once I’m done massaging it in, I rinse it off. This leaves my skin feeling soft and amazing!
Cucumber Herbal Conditioning Cleanser by Kiehl's is my current favorite face cleanser. I have a few cleansers I like to bounce back and forth with but I’m really enjoying this one for now and I’m on a Kiehl's kick for some reason...I’m enjoying a lot of their products lately.
Hydrating Face Tonic by Bobbi Brown is a great pre-moisturizer step which helps to balance and sooth my skin while prepping it for the following step which is my serums and moisturizers. I soak my cotton round and massage this into my skin. This helps to also remove any excess makeup or dirt I wasn’t able to get off with my cleanser. At this stage, my skin feels great! Squeaky clean and ready for whats next...

My treatment products include:
Hydo-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate by Kielh's has the longest name ever (lol) but does all of that! This is step one in my treatment process. This serum plumps, hydrates and re-texturizes my skin like no other. I've been using this for a few weeks now and have noticed a huge difference in the appearance of my skin. It has softened the appearance of my fine lines and smoothed out the overall texture. I take 1-2 pumps (am/pm) and apply a thin layer all over face and neck.
Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm by Keihl’s is one I’ve mentioned before in my Friday Favorites. Still is a favorite! It’s really saved my skin during these last few months of unpredictable Los Angeles weather. I take a small amount and warm the product between my fingers and apply all over face and neck, avoiding direct contact with eyes.
Midnight Recovery Concentrate by Kiehl's is my holy grail! This combo (moisture balm and midnight recovery) is exactly what my skin craves every single night! So, this is technically a night serum and is recommended to use on a cleansed face alone or under moisturizer. Of course, I like to make up my own rules and find that I enjoy this so much more as the very last layer of treatment I apply to my face at night before bed. So, this goes right on top of my moisturizer! It contains Lavender Essential Oil and Evening Primrose Oil giving it the most amazing scent. The blend of oils and squalene (a natural antioxidant and promotes cell growth amongst many other benefits) delivers hydration and promotes a softer, smoother, more radiant complexion. 100% recommend this to all skin types. Yes, even you oily skin-types!
Creamy Eye cream (with avocado) by Kiehl’s is a classic. Great for just about everyone, even those with sensitivity. I use this one during the day, it works beautifully under my makeup too. Take a small amount on your ring finger and warm the product first. Apply on the orbital bone (I take this up to my brow bone and around the inside of my nose). This eye cream offers a quick burst of hydration which is my main concern. Love it!
Eye Contour Balm (Anti-Wrinkle) by Cle de Peau is one of my favorites for night time eye treatment. Though both eye creams are am/pm, I tend to use my more active formulas at night right before bed. Your cells work harder and do the most repairing and detoxing while you sleep. This eye cream has a velvety, rich texture which hydrates the delicate eye area. The retinol in this eye cream improves the texture and overall appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I wake up in the morning with a noticeable radiance around my eye area.
Lash Boost by Rodan+Fields, I apply a thin layer right above my lash line as if I was applying eyeliner. I do that every other night because for me using it every night was causing a bit of an irritation. Every other night works perfectly for me and my eyes. Everyone is different. I’ve been using that for about 2 1/2 months now (I’ll have update pics soon) and I’ve noticed significant length in my lashes and starting to notice some volume as well. I’ll keep adding this to my routine till it finishes to see it full potential. end this daily/nightly ritual, I reach for one of my favorite lip products. Usually its my LipJao! s a mom, I need all the help I can get! I don't always have time to cover up this face with layers of makeup. The least I can do is focus on great skincare. I can confidently leave my house in the morning without a stitch of makeup...and yes, some days my dark circles are in full vengeance...those are the days I throw on my biggest pair of sunglasses, it's all good! Investing in all this expensive makeup isn't going to magically make your skin look good. Maybe temporarily it will, but what happens when you wash it off at the end of the day? You want to be confident in your own skin. Don't hide behind makeup! Invest in a good skincare regimen. Invest in yourself!

Let me know what some of your favorite products are? I'm always trying new stuff! I would love some new recommendations!

As I always say...what works for me, doesn't mean it will work for you. Try it and test it on yourself first!
